Prelude to the campaign (backstory)
It is World War 1. The Germans and French are stuck in trenches of Belgium, known as “no man's land”, both are at a stand-still. The Germans use all their resources to push the French back 70km, the Germans capture Paris. Marshal Ferdinand Foch, a french commander, seizes the opportunity to attack the low-resourced Germans. He realizes that they don’t have enough fire power. Thus, they call in the Canada Forces for backup. This would be the last 100 days of the war.
Amiens, August 8 to 11
Germans gain backup soldiers from Russia, temporarily holding the lead. Sir Arthur Currie and Marshal Foch devise a plan to attack the germans. The Canadian Soldiers sneak up behind the German Trenches. The Sound of a mortar fires, and the Canadians attack from behind. The Germans are surprised by all the infantry, artillery, aircraft and tank assaults. The Germans fall past the Hindenburg Line, a major defense camp by the Germans, also known as ““the black day of the German Army.”
Arras, August 26 to September 2
German soldiers create a new defense camp with trenches in Arras, France. The Canadian joined in the battle to take over the German trenches of the east of Arabs. They attack with canadian machine guns costing many lives. At the same time the Canadian medics create war medicine, and the Canadians continue to push forward. Capturing Arras and forcing the Germans back even more.
Cambrai
Cambrai, September 27 to October 9
The German allies retreat back into Cambrai. The Canadians push forward to fight the germans. They then took over the strategic city of Cambrai.
The victoria cross is awarded to captain john macgregor for his service.
Mons October 10 to November 11
After losing the Cambrai, the German fully retreated and the Canadian began the chase. The Germans have nowhere left to go. Thus having to face the enemies with the little weapons they have.
This became the degeneration of the Germans. They were forced to surrender to save many German lives and the spilling of blood.
The War’s end
A plane carries 300,000 Canadian Soldiers back to Canada. They are welcomed back with mourning and loud cheers. A few days later, a funeral of 60,000 dead Canadian Soldiers were held commemorating their sacrifice. Many weeks pass, soldiers are struggling to cope with everyday life around them. Panic attacks and violence crowd their mind. All the meanwhile, Sir Arthur Currie encounters backlash from the people thinking that he doesn’t care about the soldiers lives
